Lake Tahoe

My wife and I often head up to her family’s condo on the lake for vacation or, as we did this last winter, for writing retreats.  There’s no internet and the phone never rings, so it’s an ideal escape from our wired lives in LA.  Each morning I’d wake to this view out the main window.  When I snapped this picture on my iPhone, the fog was lifting just as the sun was rising over the mountains.  For me, it captures the serenity and creative renewal I’ve always associated with this place.

This pic is also part of a New York Times photo feature on cell phone photography, which includes hundreds of cool photos taken with phones.
